Kayleigh & David were planning a party like no other. They wanted to keep their wedding super stylish, super relaxed and make sure everyone had the chance to dance the night away! Their wedding was to take place at Worthing registry office, followed by a walk to Worthing Beach for beers and Sax, finishing off at the Last Melon for tapas and drinks.

I met them in Worthing for their engagement shoot, where we planned their route to the Beach. We knew that moving 30+ guests from one location to the other could be a challenge, so this made sure we were as prepared as we could be for their big day!

I met Kayleigh and David at a pub in Worthing, we had a quick drink before walking to the Registry office. As we walked, Kayleigh and David told me all about their vision and plans for their day. It was a really great way to get to know them better and understand all the things that were important to them on their day!

Setting the Scene for the Engagement Shoot in Worthing:

Worthing, a picturesque coastal town nestled on the south coast of England, boasts a breathtaking coastline that stretches for miles. The beach, with its iconic Victorian pier and quaint promenade, offers a serene and romantic atmosphere. As I drove into Worthing, the sun was shining, and the weather was gorgeous. I pulled up to my hotel to check in before heading to meet Kayleigh and David. As I drove into Worthing, I could see the sun had dipped behind some heavy clouds and that a low fog had started to roll in - this was not what we had imagined for our engagement session.

As I met Kayleigh and David, I could see they had thought the same. They were dressed for slightly warmer weather and had their sunnies on!

We decided to go ahead anyway. Once we arrived at the Town Hall, Kayleigh talked me through the plans for the wedding ceremony itself. We discussed the confetti, which would be thrown on the steps outside the building. Kayleigh and David then had a few family members that they wanted photos with immediately after the confetti on the steps, so I made a note of this for when I put together my full timeline.

The plan after these photos was to then walk towards the beachfront, so we picked a route that wasn't on the main road. Guests could wander at their own pace, and we could capture photos and videos of them while doing so!

We stopped at some steps for some portraits to get Kayleigh and David comfortable in front of the camera and to learn what they liked and disliked. Kayleigh and David were so funny and giggly; it was a pleasure to watch them both so excited for the day itself.

Choosing the Perfect Time:

We met late afternoon, hoping for a bit of a sunset; however, as the fog thickened, it was clear this wouldn't be the case. The fog, however, allowed for a balanced and well-'diffused light, which is also great for taking photos. You don't get the soft romantic glow on your images, but you wouldn't be able to tell from these images that it was super gloomy!

Wardrobe Selection:

Kayleigh and David are all about teamwork. They decided to opt for 'matching' outfits that really showed their personalities. I loved their casual jeans, white T and trainer combo, I thought they looked super chilled and relaxed, which is exactly the kind of people that they are!

Fun and Playful Moments:

I really wanted to capture their playful personality and get them used to being the stars of the shows. We messed around, did piggy backs, climbed on benches and just explored our inner children. Kayleigh and David give school-sweetheart vibes, and how they were with each other was super sweet.

We walked past the Last Melon so that I could see exactly where the reception would be. I knew on the day that I'd need to get into the venue to photograph all the details ahead of all the guests, so I made a mental note to leave myself enough time for this when I put together my timeline of the day.

We found a super cute wall directly opposite the venue, which provided a quirky backdrop. I knew I could utilise this area on the day for any further group shots in case we didn't have time to get through them all on the beach and in front of the ceremony venue. Kayleigh and David's playful personalities shined through once again!

The Iconic Worthing Pier:

No seaside engagement shoot in Worthing would be complete without a visit to the iconic Worthing Pier. We made our way to the beach, and Kayleigh described the plan of action for the day. They would enlist the help of their bridal party to ensure there were buckets of beer and bubbly available, as well as deck chairs. They had a sax player booked to provide some chilled-out tunes, which sounded perfect!

When we got to the beach, the fog had thickened up, and we could just see the pier in the distance. We walked along the stones toward the pier, which would be our final stop.

Kayleigh and David kept giving with their playful nature, willing to try anything, and just their general ease to get along with. I felt like I could go out with them for dinner after, and it wouldn't have been weird!

I loved the grainy, cooler look to their images, it really matched the weather for the day. The final thing they really wanted a photo of was their matching tattoos (their wedding date on the back of their arms).

Conclusion:

Worthing provided a really interesting backdrop for some gorgeous engagement photos. From old Victorian-esque streets, brick walls, the beach, the pier, the choices seemed unending! In addition, Kayleigh and David came away from their session feeling excited and relaxed about their wedding day, with a solid plan of action in terms of chauffeuring their guests from one location to the next.
